Navigating the Platform
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Transpeye uses a persistent horizontal navigation bar at the top of every page. The navigation bar gives you access to all major sections of the platform. The items visible in the navigation bar depend on your user role — some sections are restricted to administrators, partners, or setup users. This guide describes every section and sub-section available across all roles.
Step-by-Step Guide
Section titled “Step-by-Step Guide”Step 1: Understand the Navigation Bar Layout
Section titled “Step 1: Understand the Navigation Bar Layout”The navigation bar runs across the top of the page, below the Transpeye logo. On desktop screens, all navigation items appear in a single horizontal row. On smaller screens, a hamburger menu button appears on the left — click it to expand the navigation items into a vertical list.
Top-level items with a downward arrow indicator open a dropdown sub-menu when you hover over them (on desktop) or tap them (on mobile). Items without a dropdown navigate directly to their page when clicked.
Step 2: Navigate to the Dashboard
Section titled “Step 2: Navigate to the Dashboard”The Dashboard link is the first item in the navigation bar. Clicking it takes you directly to the main dashboard overview page. The Dashboard is visible to all users who have standard view access.
Step 3: Navigate to Video (Live View)
Section titled “Step 3: Navigate to Video (Live View)”The Video link takes you to the live camera snapshot view at /live_view. Here you can monitor real-time snapshots from cameras connected to your system. This section is accessible to all users.
Step 4: Navigate to Analytics

Step 10: Use the User Menu
Section titled “Step 10: Use the User Menu”The top-right corner of the navigation bar contains a small user area. This area displays:
- Your last login time — shown as a timestamp so you can quickly verify when your session started.
- Colour theme toggle — a button that switches the Transpeye interface between dark and light colour themes. Your preference is saved and persists across sessions.
- Logout — clicking this link ends your session immediately and returns you to the login page. Always log out when using a shared computer.
- Hover to preview dropdowns. On desktop, hovering over a dropdown navigation item reveals the sub-menu without navigating away from the current page.
- Use browser back and forward. Each section in Transpeye has a unique URL. You can use your browser’s back button to return to the previous page, and forward to return to a page you have navigated away from.
- The active tab is highlighted. The current section is indicated by highlighted text in the navigation bar, making it easy to identify where you are in the platform.
- Mobile users. On small screens, tap the hamburger icon to open the navigation menu. Tap a top-level item with a sub-menu to expand it, then tap the sub-item you want.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| A navigation section is not visible | Your user role may not include access to that section. Contact your administrator to review your permissions. |
| Clicking a nav item does nothing | Your browser session may have expired. Refresh the page — if the login page appears, sign in again. |
| The navigation bar does not appear | The page may not have loaded correctly. Perform a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows/Linux, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac). |
| Theme preference is not saved between sessions | Ensure your browser allows cookies for the Transpeye domain, as the theme preference is stored in your session. |
